8th FilmAmed Documentary Film Festival

8th FilmAmed Documentary Film Festival

APPLICATIONS FOR THE 8TH FILMAMED DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL HAVE STARTED

We are going through such a process that there is significant press and censorship both in the social area, media and in the arts. Especially in a situation where the public’s sources of information are limited and one-sided information is way much more dominant; bringing out important social problems, sharing them, discussing them becomes more and more difficult every day and this situationleads to very important rights violations. In the arts, the freedom of self-expression of artists and the sharing of artistic activities with the public face censorship and very important obstacles. Documentary cinema in Turkey, along with being a field of artistic and creative expression, especially because of the public’s sources of information have been blocked, informs the society; social problems that are experienced, violations of rights and ways to solve these problems all are brought into question, open for discussion; creates attion in the national and international arena; It also creates an important pressure on social authorities.

As we all know, there is a fact that the main festivals also ignore documentary films, especially those which focus on social issues, bring them forward, create sensitivity and attention to those issues and do not include them in their programs. In this context, documentaries that have been censored any reasons, can not be shown elsewhere; in order to create a space for sharing, evaluating, discussing and showing all documentary films in which there are no attacks or insults against any ethnic, religious, sexual or cultural identity, we are organizing the 8th FilmAmed Documentary Film Festival this year.

Applications for the 8th FilmAmed Documentary Fim Festival, which will be held between September 27th and October 1st, will be accepted online, between June 27th and July 28th, from filmamed.com website.
